Every painting has its own story. Here I share the moments, memories and experiences that inspired me to create some of my works.
Seascapes & Harbours

Waiting for sailing
Size: 45×35 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
“Ships have always carried a sense of adventure and the promise of distant places. Watching them resting quietly in a harbour, I often imagine the journeys they have made and those still ahead. This painting captures a peaceful moment in Hobart Harbour, Tasmania.”
Venetian bridge
Size: 40×30 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
“Venice has always fascinated me with its narrow canals, old bridges and warm colours reflected in the water. In this painting, I wanted to capture the quiet charm of a small Venetian bridge, where sunlight touches the old buildings and the canal disappears into shadow.”

Marina Light
Size: 50×75 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I came across this peaceful marina while walking along the river in Fremantle, Western Australia. I have always loved watching the water — the way it moves, catches the light and changes colour with every passing moment.
There was something quietly poetic about the boats resting at their moorings, surrounded by the gentle movement of the river. I wanted to capture that feeling — the beauty of an ordinary moment that makes you stop and look a little longer.”

Rhythm of the Tide
Size: 50×60 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I have always loved the sea. I can spend hours watching the waves, fascinated by their strength, endless movement and constantly changing colours. But it is not only what I see that draws me to the ocean. It is also the rhythmic sound of the surf, the gentle splash of water against the rocks, and that wonderful smell of the sea.
There is something deeply romantic about it all. Every wave is different, every moment brings a new colour, a new movement, a new sound. Perhaps that is why I never tire of painting the ocean.
In Rhythm of the Tide, I wanted to capture a little of that feeling — the energy of the waves, the beauty of the water and the rhythm that makes the sea so irresistible to me.”

Ocean dunes
Size: 50×60 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“What first caught my attention was the extraordinary light. The sun illuminated parts of the sandy dunes while deep shadows stretched across the path towards the ocean. Above it all, an enormous cloud was gathering, making the contrast of light and shadow even more dramatic.
I love those moments by the sea when you can feel a gentle breeze on your face, breathe in the salty air and watch the sky changing before your eyes. There is something wonderful about the way nature can be peaceful and dramatic at the same time.
That was the feeling I wanted to preserve in Ocean Dunes — a moment when the light, the ocean and that magnificent cloud made me stop and admire the scene.”
Ocean Dunes was awarded First Prize in Oil Painting

The Ocean’s Pulse
Size: 50×75 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“What fascinated me most about this scene was the movement of the waves as they rolled towards the shore, broke against the rocks and swirled around them before returning to the ocean.
I was particularly drawn to the rocks covered in thick green seaweed. I loved the contrast between their rough, almost furry surfaces and the constantly moving water. The fresh, salty smell of the sea and the soft colours of the approaching sunset made the moment even more memorable.
I wanted to bring some of that experience into The Ocean’s Pulse — not just the movement and energy of the waves, but the wonderful feeling of standing close to the ocean and watching it come alive.”

Harbour Light
Size: 50×40 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I often walk along Fremantle Harbour, but I never tire of watching it in the evening, especially when the sun is low on the horizon.
There is something magical about that time of day. The familiar harbour begins to look completely different as the setting sun transforms the colours of the sky and water into beautiful, warm and sometimes unexpected shades. No two evenings are ever quite the same.
On one of those walks, I was particularly moved by the warmth and beauty of the fading sunlight. It was one of those moments when a familiar place suddenly feels extraordinary. That feeling stayed with me and inspired me to paint Harbour Light.”

Harbour in Gold
Size: 50×60 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I was taking one of my usual walks along the harbour. The weather kept changing between rain and sunshine, and as the sun began to set, something extraordinary happened.
The clouds suddenly caught the last rays of sunlight, and everything around me was flooded with a warm, honey-golden glow.
It felt as though I was standing beneath a great golden umbrella. The sky, the water, the boats — everything was wrapped in this beautiful ochre light.
For a few unforgettable moments, I felt as though I was breathing in gold, completely surrounded and sheltered by its warmth.
I wanted to hold on to that extraordinary feeling. That is how Harbour in Gold came to life.”

Blue Marina
Size: 50×40 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“What inspired me to paint Blue Marina was not so much the boats themselves, but the reflections in the water.
I was fascinated by the way the sky appeared on its surface, how the blues of the clouds and the boats seemed to merge and break apart with every ripple.
I wanted to capture that beautiful meeting of sky and water, where reflections create a world of their own.”
Blue Marina was awarded First Prize in Oil Painting.

Before rain
Size: 50×40 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“The boats and yachts are moored in the bay, surrounded by shades of green and blue. The water reflects their elegant silhouettes, creating a mesmerizing interplay of light and color. Above, the sky is adorned with clouds, with glimpses of sunlight breaking through, adding depth and movement to the scene. The composition conveys a sense of calmness, yet the shifting light hints at the ever-changing nature of the sea and sky.”

Turquoise Serenity
Size: 50×40 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“During one of my walks along the ocean, I came across a beautiful stretch of coastline where a narrow spit of land reached out into the sea.
The warm sunlight touched the rocks, contrasting beautifully with the clear turquoise water. A lone seagull sat on one of the rocks, looking out over the sea as though surveying its own little kingdom.
I loved that moment of quiet stillness. When I began painting, I felt that a couple of small fishing boats in the distance would complete the scene, adding a little touch of life to the peaceful surroundings.
That simple moment by the ocean became Turquoise Serenity.”
Turquoise Serenity was awarded People’s Choice Award.

Ocean wave
Size: 50×60 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I have always been fascinated by the power and movement of ocean waves.
I love watching them rush towards the shore, crashing against the rocks in a burst of white foam and spray.
What fascinates me most is the beautiful, almost graphic patterns the foam creates on the water. As each wave rolls in, it seems to gather everything in its path, swallowing the sand and small pebbles along the shore.
Then it retreats, leaving delicate white patterns across the water, only to return again with renewed strength.
I could watch this endlessly. It is like watching nature draw its own pictures, constantly creating and erasing them.
That endless movement and energy of the ocean is what I wanted to capture in Ocean Wave.”

Whispers of the Gorge
Size: 76.5×60.5 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“Canyons have always fascinated me. To think that these immense formations have been shaped over millions of years by wind, rain and flowing water — long before we existed — is simply astonishing.
And then comes sunset. The last rays of sunlight touch the ancient cliffs, bringing out extraordinary shades of brick-orange, deep red and pale, almost silvery stone. Some surfaces glow in the warm light, while others disappear into shadow, only to emerge again.
Standing before these ancient formations, I cannot help but wonder how much time has passed, how much the world has changed, while these rocks have remained. Millions of years — it is almost impossible to imagine.”

House in Bloom
Size: 55×65 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I often visit Fremantle, and one day, walking past a beautiful old house, I was drawn to a magnificent bush covered in clusters of tiny white flowers.
The flowers reminded me so much of lilacs, which I have always loved and haven’t seen for many years while living in Western Australia. For a moment, I could almost smell their familiar fragrance, even though these white flowers had no scent at all.
I loved watching the sunlight fall across those generous clusters of blossoms, revealing their delicate shapes, colours and volume. I could spend ages looking at the smallest flowers, admiring how they come together in such beautiful abundance.
Perhaps you simply have to love flowers as much as I do to understand that feeling.”
House in Bloom was awarded First Prize in Mix Painting.

Last Light in the Valley
Size: 40×50 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I love driving through the Perth Hills. On one of these trips, I passed a place so beautiful that I simply had to stop.
The afternoon sun was filtering through the treetops, bathing the trunks in warm golden light. Between the long shadows, the grass seemed to sparkle — dry golden grass mixed with fresh young green shoots pushing through everywhere.
And below, the valley stretched into the distance. Beneath the faraway trees, it lay in cool shadow, while the parts still touched by the sun glowed with brilliant green.
It was a magnificent sight, one of those unexpected moments that makes me stop and reach for my paints.”
Last Light in the Valley was awarded First Prize in oil Painting.

Wisteria in Araluen Park
Size: 50×60 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“I have always loved wisteria, and every spring I look forward to seeing it in bloom.
One day, I made a special trip to Araluen Botanic Park just to enjoy its flowering season. I knew how beautifully the wisteria grew around the café, but it was the quiet corner with the columns and the little pond that captured my heart.
I could have stayed there for hours. It was exactly the kind of place I wanted to take home with me — on canvas.”

Under the Bougainvillea
Size: 34.5 × 44.5 cm
Materials: Oil, Canvas
The Story Behind the Painting
“One day, while walking through Fremantle, I decided to turn into a narrow lane between two old buildings. Something about it caught my attention — it wasn’t paved, and grass grew along its edges, almost like a little country lane.
What I discovered was completely unexpected. Old wooden fences covered in grapevines, beautiful old doorways, and bougainvillea everywhere — red, pink and white, growing in wonderful abundance.
I was amazed. Just a few steps away from the busy streets of Fremantle, I felt as though I had stepped into another century.
What touched me most was the feeling that these little courtyards had been lovingly cared for over generations. There was so much history, warmth and quiet affection in that hidden corner.
I wanted to preserve a little of that feeling in my painting.”
